The Power Switch may be fished with or without the FFS but I have found it more effective and exciting with FFS. There are several different ways to fish the Power Switch, and this may be found with the Power Switch packaging.
I work the Power Switch a couple of different ways depending on the species and the structure, if any. My preferred method is to locate the fish on the bottom or within structure using the FFS and vertically fish using a vertical finesse twitching approach while slowly lifting. To excite a fish, I’ll use three or four quick rips, then go back to a finesse twitch. The natives will usually follow the Power Switch as it ascends, then engulf it and head for the bottom or structure so hold on.
The other way I use the Power Switch is to locate the free-swimming mid-water
species, cast past the fish, and allow the Power Switch to fall behind the fish. Using
a twitching and slow rolling technique over the fish, the fish will usually follow and
then engulf the Power Switch.
When it comes to freshwater fishing for Golden Perch (Yellow belly), my favourite
colours are Firetiger, HD Blacknose Shiner, HD Yellow Perch, and Green Pumpkin.
These colours in 2.5” and ¼ oz, as well as 3” and ⅜ oz, have proven to be highly
effective. Match this with a 2-4kg spin outfit with 8-10lb leader you will be on the
money.
There is no right way to fish the Power Switch and FFS is not essential but does increase your prospects. Within the packaging, there are 12 optional techniques to try depending on the species and location along with your imagination.
I predominantly fish for freshwater natives, but there is no reason why saltwater species would not be enticed by the Power Switch. With the different available techniques, give them a go—you won’t be disappointed.
