THE SCIENCE OF GULP! SCENT & TASTE
Kicking off around the early 90’s, top marine biologist Dr Keith Jones and chemical engineer, John Prochnow got to work on designing a bait that was truly revolutionary.
Through deep research and testing, Berkley’s team of scientists quickly learnt all about a fish’s sensory system and how they use it to hunt & survive. Their learnings showed the need to create a bait that was scent dispersant and would be attractive to fish all over the planet. That’s when Gulp! was born.

With a sense of smell 1000x times better than ours, fish use their powerful nostrils to constantly sample the flow of water to tell the difference between food and other organic compounds.
To capitalise on this, Berkley scientists set out to make a scent that was not only irresistible to fish, but water soluble in design to disperse 400x more effectively than any other soft bait.
